Simultanaety: Part 9Perhaps it’s not as hopeless as I thought.Simultanaety: Part 9
Flames lick the bottom of the balcony, scorching splintering pieces of wood as they inexorably fall. I fall with them, screaming past stories of homes, stories of people, all burnt to a crisp, all of them gone.
“This is it,” I think. “This must be the end. There can be no more.”
My light flashes before my eyes, a torch of humanity in a burning world. There is a pause as I process this, a seeming typographical error in an otherwise normal death scene. My sight tunnels in towards the source, looking, wondering, hoping.

Simultanaety: Part 8I wake. Up, that is. Up where, I am not sure.Simultanaety: Part 8
Light caresses my skin, stroking it kindly. I touch my jaw gingerly, it winces in pain. I check my teeth – they all seem intact. Inhale, exhale. Relief oxygenates my blood once more.

She says that he is probably delusional, and perhaps he is, but when he wakes, I look into his eyes, and I see something terrible behind them. Something that could be dangerous.
Could he be the cause of all this? Is he
